Works perfectly, August 3, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Netgear N300 Wireless Mini USB Adapter (WNA3100M) (Personal Computers) Bought this to use as a wireless adapter in my homebuilt PC, which until recently I had connected directly to our router with an ethernet cable. I had to move this PC upstairs and on the other side of the house than our router, so I was a little skeptical that something this small could give a strong connection, but because it was cheap, I thought I'd give it a go.
Our router is a WNDR3700-100NAS RangeMax (link @ bottom), which I got about two years ago (sidenote: it's a pretty darn good router). My current connection from the WNA3100 adapter is hovering around ~120/130 megabits/sec, which I am more than happy with. I think (could definitely be wrong) that's close to the threshold that USB 2.0 can handle anyways, so this checks out in my book. Plus, I never see it - its in a USB port behind my tower - a much nicer solution than the external adapter I had been using (Netgear WN311B), which was a piece of crap anyways. I wholeheartedly give this 5/5 stars - a cheap, easy, and... Read more
Good Hardware But Poor Technical Support, March 5, 2013 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Netgear N300 Wireless Mini USB Adapter (WNA3100M) (Personal Computers) (1) The hardware is good. BUT Netgear technical support is very very poor.
(2) Technical support personnel, most of them not knowledgable and impatient. Only the first person is polite and knowing what to do. Other so called experts playing blame-game, not centering on the real solutions.
Fast, easy setup. Great speed. Poor customer service, January 5, 2013 This review is from: Netgear N300 Wireless Mini USB Adapter (WNA3100M) (Personal Computers) Serial number is in orange micro print on the usb plug. No contrast to be able to read it. Need magnifying glass to read. The SN is also on the box it came with. Netgear customer service mislead me and said the USB adapter had a sticker on it for the SN. Poor product knowledge. When I did not have a sticker, ("DAVE" and "LUKE" from India) said inaccurately that it must be refurbished and that I needed to sign up for a paid support contract. Very predatory. Shame on Netgear for misleading customers. The adapter plugged in and Windows 7 found the device and installed the driver quickly. No drops in service yet. I had troubles with the Netgear site finding the adapter and getting updated drivers. Relying on Microsoft's driver update which says the device drivers are up to date.
