Excellent, February 12, 2013 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: WD Blue Desktop 500GB SATA 3.0 GB/s 7200 RPM 16MB cache 3.5-Inch Internal Desktop Hard Drive Retail Kit (Personal Computers) I order 2 of these Hard drive for my gaming computer. I did not order the black version because it was too expensive to me.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with this HDD. It's a SATA III 6/gbs. It's fast enough for downloading and any gaming installation. (Although there are some other factors :P)
This is the retail kit, which mean it's brand new, never used drive. One thing to keep in mind is that this HDD does NOT come with the SATA cable. A caution for ppl who build your own computer.
You will need to get SATA cable yourself. If you are building your own computer, there are few SATA cables come with the new motherboard. I have two SATA cable come with my motherboard, so it's
good that I did not purchased another set. I do not have any compatible issue with this HDD. You just plug in your power supply to the HDD and SATA cable to both your HDD and motherboard then you
are good to go. In addition, it does not generate loud noisy or... Read more

First was DOA, replacement has worked out extremely well, February 12, 2013 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: WD Blue Desktop 500GB SATA 3.0 GB/s 7200 RPM 16MB cache 3.5-Inch Internal Desktop Hard Drive Retail Kit (Personal Computers) The first one of these I received came in great packaging when I received it from Amazon initially, however the drive wasn't recognized by either BIOS or Windows 7 and every time I started my computer the drive was making the dreaded clicking of death. But I gotta to tip my hat to Amazon: they shipped out the replacement the same day I was shipping the defective one back, and received it's replacement the next day. Once I got it connected to the power and serial cables, it was recognized in Windows 7 and formatted and partitioning went very easily. Happy with the drive so far, would recommend as long as this drive is up and running.

WD Quality, Walmart Price, February 3, 2013 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: WD Blue Desktop 500GB SATA 3.0 GB/s 7200 RPM 16MB cache 3.5-Inch Internal Desktop Hard Drive Retail Kit (Personal Computers) Forgive the title, please, but that's how I feel. I exclusively use Western Digital hard disks in my personal computers, as well as in those I build for customers. I have yet to have a WD drive fail, but have a growing collection of failed SeaGarbage discs in my desk drawer.
Say what you will, but websites specializing in hardware repair parts and hardware cannibalization are littered with other brands for a reason.
