I used this cable to hook up a monitor in another room from the computer. It was a 100ft run (with this cable) to "Tripp Lite B120-000 DVI Dual Link Extender, DVI F/F" to a 15ft DVI cable. The picture looks perfect on my computer and worked better then expected.

I do not think this cable will work if you don't use the DVI extender.
