I currently have the Sennheiser PC360 headset that I've been gaming with for over a year. So I'm quite familiar with this excellent headset. In fact, they are nearly identical. The 363 has a vented covering instead of wire mesh on the outer ear piece and the mic grill is orange. That's about it. The big piece that you're paying for here is the USB sound card that creates a virtual 7.1 surround environment with Dolby Digital. So let's see how it works.
USB SOUND CARD
The big difference here is the USB adapter, which is basically a sound card with Dolby Digital. It connects to the USB port via the short cable attached to the sound card itself. There is an included USB extension cable. This is handy in case you want to use with a notebook and need to minimize having wires all over the place. The Sennheiser PC 363 D High Performance Surround Sound Gaming Headset is impressively comfortable with large ear cups and lots of soft padding and plush fabric, as good as any headphones I own, and they truly can be worn for hours without fatigue. There are louvers in the back of the ear cups which prevents heat and moisture from building up but which let sound in and out as with any open-back headphone. The ear cups swivel and the headband itself allows some flexibility from front to back.
The structural components are a very lightweight metal alloy with some very sturdy plastic components. There is a volume control on the right ear piece that is rather unique in that it is not really a knob but level with the surface. This makes it easy to adjust by spinning it with a fingertip while preventing the setting from being changed by accident. The microphone arm has a flexible joint and automatically mutes when it's pushed up out of the way while not in use. It has an orange... Read more

My son is a gamer and needed a new headset to replace the PC 350 Sennheiser headset we purchased back in 2009. (We had to replace that one once due to a broken cord, then the replacement eventually developed the same issue.) The PC 363D headset is a much better product in several respects. The cord is braided and seems much more durable, and the volume control is in the earcup instead of the cord, preventing him from constantly pulling on the cord to adjust the volume (which probably contributed to the cord wearing out so fast - twice.)
As with the previous model, the earcups go completely around his ears, and are very comfortable for him. (He has had issues with other brands.) He also loves the setup of the mic in this model much better than the PC 350. When he slides the mic up and hears the click, it mutes it to allow privacy. With the 350, he had to mute it at the volume control on the cord.
