Cool and Quiet!, August 8, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: ARCTIC F8 PWM 80mm Case Fan (Accessory) A very quiet 80mm PWM fan that can push pretty good air. I put one in my media pc case, and installed one in the back of my media cabinet that the pc is in.
My media cabinet was getting pretty warm due to very little open air space inside, and no venting (I had to keep the cabinet door open to keep the temperature down). I cut a small whole in the back of the cabinet and attached one 80mm fan to it. I installed the other fan inside my pc case and spliced and extended the wire from this fan so I could connect/disconnect the cabinet fan at the back of my pc case(do not attempt unless you are very familiar with electrical wiring and you do not mind voiding any warranties on your pc and pc components), so both fans are controlled by the motherboard.
These fans are quieter than the existing fans in my media pc. The whole system is much quieter now that I can finally keep the cabinet door closed. Since installing these fans I have never had any problems with the... Read more

On demand cooling, December 17, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: ARCTIC F8 PWM 80mm Case Fan (Accessory) I purchased two of these for my HTPC to replace the stock Antec Tri cool fan.
The tricool was quiet at the lowest setting, but my temps were getting a little high.
Using 2 of these my i3 2105 doesn't get above 60 C. I have the stock cooler on the the CPU, this is in an Antek ISK-300 case.
The PWM splitters are great. Case fans only ramp up when the CPU load does, and never get to a noise level that bothers me.
Check the amperage that your motherboard allows for fan headers before connecting too many to the same one. My gigabyte Mini ITX board allows .7. With two of these and the stock cooler I'm drawing .5 amps from the CPU Fan header.
One of mine broke during shipping, but only a corner of the frame, I mounted it anyhow... No vibration or anything.

nice fan for the money, May 7, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: ARCTIC F8 PWM 80mm Case Fan (Accessory) I purchased this Arctic Cooling Arctic Fan 80mm PWM and used it for more than a week now. It is quiet and works well. I used it to replace a CPU fan on my 3 year old desktop since the original CPU fan that came with it was making more noise than blowing air.
I needed a 4 pin PWM fan since my motherboard came with such set up. Arctic fan came with 4 pins, but it came with the fan speed sensor separated from the 4 pin set up. When it re-booted, I had to reconfigure my boot up to ignore `CPU fan missing' at boot up. I also set up new fan speed fixed to 1100rpm.
I guess this is a case fan not a CPU fan, therefore I had to make the necessary changes. It does have an adapter to slip between a CPU fan and the motherboard.
It is very quiet and pushes good amount of air that it lowered my CPU temp by 12C.
If I used it as a case fan, it is designed to pick up CUP temp from the motherboard to increase or decrease fan speed. I plan to get a different PMW fan to put it... Read more
