I received this TPC 812 to cool an Intel 3930k hex-core processor. It has done an admirable job and processor temps remain in the mid-60s at full load with linpack stress test in my HAF X **even when the CPU fan is spinning at its 600rpm minimum**!! This fan can spin up to 2400rpm, but when hooked up to a 4pin PWM fan header on the newer Intel motherboards you can let the heatsink do the heavy lifting while the motherboard will only spin up the fan to higher speeds when needed based on cpu temp. You can of course run it full speed all the time, but if the fan @ 600rpm and the killer heatsink do the job why not go with the silent cooling mode until the cpu needs the higher fan velocity? There is also the option to add a second fan for extreme cooling situations, but one is doing the job by far here so I did not bother.

The heatsink is very tall and will not fit in most mid tower cases, but it fit well in my HAF X full tower case. Polish is immaculate as it looks like a... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely first rate product., September 3, 2012

Firstly, I agree with everything Ruined has said about this cooler, as well as the interesting comments which have been added to his review. I have appreciated his comments which have been most helpful to me in making a decision with regard to CPU cooling options available.

With an ASUS P9x79 motherboard, an Intel 3930 CPU, and a Gigabyte GTX 670, not overclocked, in a Corsair 550D case(large, medium tower with sound insulated sides and top), the Coolermaster's fan runs at from between 600-1000 RPM and is, at those speeds, for all intent and purposes, silent. This keeps the CPU at less than 37C, no matter what I am doing on the computer, even complex graphics manipulations in Photoshop, probably because the functions are not sustained as they might be in high-octane gaming. Please note that because of these slow speeds, particularly at boot time, your BIOS may throw up a "CPU fan error", probably because the monitoring is programmed to the stock Intel fans which run more... This is a wonderful CPU cooler--well engineered, easy to install and very effective at keeping my Core i7 3820 below 40 C. Like all the other reviews have warned, beware, it is huge. I had enough room in my HAF 922 chassis, but it interfered with my first PCI Express x16 slot (slightly). Granted, you may be able to get a card in there if it very thin--but probably not. My MOBO is a Gigabyte GA-X79-UD3.

It also can cover some of the RAM slots. I bought a set of Corsair Vengeance LP Performance Memory Modules that are 1.5 inches high. Those are too tall if you insert the memory in the slots on the left side of the MOBO. I ended up buying another set of Corsair RAM that are pretty much the same model but are 0.6 inches high, making it possible to insert the modules underneath the side of the cooler.

Overall, this cooler is excellent and I recommend it.
