Well-priced "basic" CPU, good performance, October 22, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor G630 2.7 Ghz 3 MB Cache LGA 1155 - BX80623G630 (Personal Computers) A good basic processor that hits the sweet spot of price-to-performance for most users' needs.
Unlike Intel's cheaper Celerons, it is dual core, and has more cache than the high end of the current Celeron lineup, which are only slightly cheaper.
Unlike the more powerful Intel i3 linup, this Pentium lacks HT, turbo-boost, the bigger cache, the faster bus and clock speeds, but it comes respectably close to its big brother's numbers for 1/3 to 1/2 the price.
The 32nm build process makes for a cooler-running (lower-powered) chip than previous generations. My Foxconn RM1-H2 mini computer with this CPU, 2 7200rpm drives, and 2GB RAM idles at less than 45W.
With 64-bit support, VT hooks, onboard graphics, this fit my basic server needs perfectly. On FreeBSD 8.3, it shows up as:

It will cost about half as much and provide great performance.
Windows Experience Index: 6.6 (Amazing score)
As you can see from the WEI score, this CPU is more than capable of performing even demanding tasks. It will most likely not be the bottleneck in your system.
Note: The fastest RAM speed this CPU will support is 1066MHz which is a bit of a letdown because most new RAMs run at 1333MHz and up. Despite this minor issue, I was able to get a WEI score of 7.4 for my 8GB (2x4GB) 1333MHz RAM installed in my system. The 1066MHz limit shouldn't be a reason not to get this CPU since you can see from my results the RAM was more than capable even with the limitation.

I bought this, along with the Biostar micro motherboard and a 7750 video card. The total was around $250 (4 GB of ram). The PC plays GW2 in medium settings at a good resolution and gets 45-55 FPS average. I'm running on my PC (i5 quad core @ 3.7 ghz and a GTX 570) on High settings and get 55-65 FPS average.
I was very pleasantly surprised with the performance of this with a $95 video card. I don't think the review below that says "Stop, don't buy this for gaming" is accurate. GW2 is a pretty intensive game on CPU and GPU, and it ran fine with quite a few bells and whistles turned on.
