Expensive, has a lip that can't be seen in the photo, November 3, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Tripp Lite SRSHELF2P1U Rack Enclosure Cabinet Cantilever Fixed Shelf 40 Pound Capacity 1URM (Personal Computers) For $42.00 you get a very sturdy cold-rolled steel 1U shelf that comes with all necessary mounting hardware. However, what you can't see in the picture is that the front of the shelf has a small lip that comes up and covers a good 1/2" of the face of the rack opening.
It wasn't worth it for me to return to Amazon - I made it work - but the pictures are too small and misleading. If I were reviewing based on build quality alone this would easily merit a 5-star review.

Ideal For Wall Mounted Racks, November 3, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Tripp Lite SRSHELF2P1U Rack Enclosure Cabinet Cantilever Fixed Shelf 40 Pound Capacity 1URM (Personal Computers) I installed this in a wall mount Tripp Lite 12USG rack just above a UPS unit. It's well ventilated so heat transfer is not an issue with any equipment on, above, or below it. It conformed to the 1U footprint without any issue. I found it to be sturdy, with no sharp edges, mounts easily, has a decent black paint finish, and is low profile providing a neat, organized appearance in the rack. Its depth is just about perfect for the 12USG rack. I use it to hold equipment that is not rack mountable and it has performed well in this role. I considered the larger 2U cantilevered brother to this 1U variant but felt it was overkill. I believe in retrospect this was the correct decision for my situation; this unit has weight capacity to spare. The shelf arrived with all requisite mounting hardware.
